Lift & Slide, 2009
Lift & Slide is a sculptural exploration of Michael Jackson's infamous moonwalk.
Proposed for the site of the O2 arena in Greenwich, London, Lift & Slide is formed of two parallel forms representing the definitive foot movements of the moonwalk.
Positioned at the end of a 50ft walkway dubbed 'Moonwalk Way', Lift & Slide is symbolic of Michael Jackson's 50 years of life. At the site which would have witnessed the greatest comeback of all time, a series of 50 shows at London's O2 arena, Lift & Slide invites participation from the public.
Finished with a highly polished reflective surface, Lift & Slide shimmers in the daylight, while at night, the outer edges illuminate to evoke the spectacle of performance.
